Can hair transplant cause any damage to nerves?

The most superficial layers of the scalp have small nerves and hair transplant procedure is done in these layers only. That is why numbness is experienced in the grafted area in 10-15% cases and some also experience it in the donor area. This goes away in 3-4 months when superficial nerves regenerate. Practically there is no damage to the nerves, whatever damage is there it is 100% recoverable.
